Top executives jump ship, numbers down, Trump sad, Truth Social is a disaster

The only way to get real freedom of speech in this country is to pay for it. That’s the promise that disgraced, twice-impeached president Donald Trump’s Truth Social application declares. Amongst other things, the social media network promised to create an ultra right-wing digital presence that could be used as a propaganda hub for people like Trump. This was for people who felt Twitter was controlled by “liberals” who were censoring the “truth” about things like ivermectin being a secret treatment for COVID-19 and that the 2020 elections were stolen from Trump by the ghost of Hugo Chavez.

Former Republican Rep. Devin Nunes left his lapdog position in the GOP to become the head of the news venture, a perfectly hypocritical move for a perfectly hypocritical man—who is still suing a satirical fake cow (you read that right) Twitter account that was making fun of him. The Truth Social app, evaluated at $3.5 billion, launched in February and presented the world with a less polished Xerox copy of Twitter (albeit with more characters allowed per post), and boy has it been the kind of bumpy ride usually reserved for either incompetent business disasters or complete scams. First there was the fact that the business logo was likely to face a copyright infringement lawsuit, and then people signing up for Truth Social accounts ran into the problem that they could not get an account.

It’s been a few weeks since launch day. How are things going now? Thoughts and prayers, y’all.
